Speakers

Topic: The Changing State of Standards
Speaker: Wayne Allen, Product Marketing Engineer, Fluke Networks

With demand for bandwidth growing faster than ever, standards bodies are scrambling to keep pace with the changes. Testimony to that fact is that over the past 35 years, we’ve seen six new speeds emerge; but in just the last 18 months, we’ve seen another six new speeds emerge.
This presentation will look at some of the emerging and recently published standards and the trends that are driving the changes, including new technologies and new connectors. It will also review some of the changes coming to testing standards that we are familiar with and some new standards that our industry will need to deal with.

Topic: Fibre Optics – The need for Fibre Everywhere is Driving Densification
Speaker: Jason Hanlon, Commercial Manager Datacom, Prysmian Group

The presentation will explore the evolution of bend-insensitive fibre; what is driving it; and where the technology headed. i.e. 180um fibre cores and how they will drive down the TCO of fibre networks
