On 1 September 2017, the New Zealand Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017, came into force, bringing together 13 commercial statutes into one.

While not substantively changing the law, the new Act makes laws more accessible and user-friendly for modern audiences, and to ensure consistency across various statutes.

The Consumer Protection website provides a list of the original statutes that can no longer be accessed, as well as information on where provisions can be found in the new Act.

The Act is administered by the Minister of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Ministry of Justice.
