Prove you’re South Pacific’s best cabler by taking up the BICSI Cabling Skills Challenge.
The BICSI 2018 South Pacific Cabling Skills Challenge will take place during July and August 2018 in all Australia & New Zealand. (For those in Australia, this competition is open to all professional cablers who hold current ACMA registration with Structured Cabling Competency. This does not apply to New Zealand entrants)
Our judges will be looking for professionalism, quality of workmanship and speed; so you need to be a skilled cabler. Naturally, cabling ‘cowboys’ are not welcome!
To compete, simply register below, tell us where you’d like to compete, and get your boss’s approval. More than one person from a company can compete, so you’re welcome to invite your workmates as well. Maybe you can prove your better than them too.
Once we’ve received your application, we’ll confirm your registration with a Skills Challenge Registration number and advise you of your competition time via email.
When you arrive at the competition venue on the competition day, please present your Registration notification to the Registration desk.
The winner of each Qualifying Heat receives a trophy and kit of valuable cabling tools, provided by our sponsors, and is invited to compete in the South Pacific Skills Challenge Grand Final at the BICSI Conference, held at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre 9th & 10th October 2018. They will also receive a complimentary ticket to the conference and Awards Dinner, where the winner of the Skills Challenge Grand Final is announced. The Grand Final winner will then receive another trophy as the South Pacific’s best cabler and go the BICSI Conference in Florida, USA (flights and accommodation paid for) to represent the South Pacific at the BICSI International Cabling Skills Challenge in January 2019.
The local Qualifying Heats will consist of two copper-based challenges:
• Task One – 50-pair tie-cable from 110-style termination to a 24-port patch panel.
• Task Two – Written Exam
Expect the tasks to take about 90 minutes in total, so give yourself a couple of hours in case of slight delays. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled time for orientation and to assist us in keeping to the timetable.
